What do used household batteries and children’s books have in common? Both will be collected at Celebrate Science Indiana 2022 on October 1st in the Elements Financial Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds between 9:30 am – 5:00 pm as part of our theme: “Protecting Our Earth”.
Bring in your used Batteries: Cirba Solutions will be collecting your used batteries at their booth. All single use and rechargeable household batteries will be collected and properly recycled. Lead acid batteries (such as car batteries) will NOT be accepted! Please follow these following instructions for safe handling. Why tape? Lithium-ion batteries can cause a fire, that’s why we should never put these batteries in household garbage or our normal recycling bins. The terminals, or exposed metal parts, of certain batteries can rub together creating a spark. It only takes one to start a fire! Properly taping these batteries ensures safe transit, but some batteries do not need to be taped. The guide below will help you determine how to bring them in for recycling.
Bring in your gently used Children’s Books: All attendees are also welcomed to donate gently used children’s books to the Indy Book Project booth. What better way for children to honor this theme than giving a second life to a book that could have ended up in a landfill. This literary non-profit has gifted over 98,000 books to children in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas and will give away many more at Celebrate Science Indiana. Kids can stop by to claim one free science-themed book while supplies last. Parents can let their children explore the treasures and select their favorite.
Thank you to these exhibitors for their contributions to Celebrate Science Indiana and for helping us protect our earth. Many other exhibitors will have hands on activities around this theme! Come and celebrate with us at this fun festival for kids of all ages. There will be books for adults available too!
