What do used household batteries and children’s books have in common? Both will be collected at Celebrate Science Indiana 2024 on October 17th in the Expo Hall at the Indiana State Fairgrounds from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Recycle Your Used Batteries: Cirba Solutions, a Silver Sponsor, will be accepting used batteries at their booth. They will collect and properly recycle all single-use and rechargeable household batteries. Please note that lead acid batteries (such as car batteries) will not be accepted. For safe handling, follow these instructions: Lithium-ion batteries can cause fires, so they should never be disposed of in household garbage or regular recycling bins. The terminals, or exposed metal parts, of certain batteries can rub together and create a spark, potentially starting a fire. Properly taping these batteries ensures safe transit, though some batteries do not need to be taped. Refer to the guide below to determine how to prepare them for recycling.
Donate Your Gently Used Children’s Books: Attendees are encouraged to bring gently used children’s books to donate at the Indy Book Project booth. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to give a second life to a book!
Thanks to a private donor, Indy Book Project is a Nickel Sponsor! This literary non-profit has gifted over 100,000 books to children in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas and will distribute many more at Celebrate Science Indiana. Kids can stop by to claim one free science-themed book while supplies last. Parents can let their children explore and select their favorite books.
We are grateful to Cirba Solutions, Indy Book Project, and all our exhibitors/sponsors for their contributions to Celebrate Science Indiana. Stay tuned for more highlights!
